2021 Joh Jos Prum Riesling

As arguably the most famous name in the area, Joh. Jos. Prum exemplifies the very finest of what Riesling from the Mosel has to offer. While the Prum family can trace their roots in the Mosel back to 1156, it was Johann Josef Prüm who founded what we know as J.J. Prum in 1911. Katharina Prüm now guides this estate spread over 13.5 hectares of prime slate soils, including plots in the famed vineyards of Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Graacher Himmelreich, Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, and Bernkasteler Badstube.

Following a series of powerful vintages born from hot and dry seasons, 2021 is a triumphant return to the featherweight and filigreed style that Joh. Jos. Prum embodies so well. As a group these 2021s are precise and finely tuned, with the vintage leaning towards the Kabinett and Spatlese styles, they're delicate in body yet intensely flavoured. With little botrytis to speak of in 2021 there were no Auslese Goldkapsel wines produced, however each of the Auslese on offer are some of the most striking examples that will improve and live for decades.
