Tobermory 1798 Limited Edition 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Isle of Mull, SCOTLAND
$299. 00
Bottle
$3588.00 Dozen
ABV: 46.3%

Produced at the Tobermory distillery, the only distillery on the picturesque hebridean Isle of Mull. Tobermory, the capital of Mull, lies towards the northern end of the island. Of all the whisky distilling regions of Scotland (Speyside, Highland, Islay, the various islands, Lowland, Campbeltown), only Tobermory and Ledaig represent an opportunity to experience malt whisky from this particular region.

Bottled unchill filtered with natural colour, this new limited release from Tobermory comes presented in a uniquely blown bottle, gift-boxed in fine dark-gold oak.

Tasting note: A difficult whisky to evaluate, comparable to a very faintly corked wine. After returning to this whisky several times, the malt richness would seem to be masking a less appealing characteristic. The whisky displays a deep pale gold colour with a pale gold hue. An initially rich malty aroma is interwoven with manuka honey and an array of dry spices - subtle notes of lavender, clove and cedary oak are evident. However, there’s a more sinister undertone here too with an almost indiscernible burnt rubberiness that keeps creeping in. The rich malt and spice flavours dominate the palate which builds into a surprisingly long and very warm, spicy finish - almost hot. Aftertaste turns dry and a tad bitter, parting with subtle flavours of toasty grain, spice and cocoa. 46.3% Alc.Vol.
