The huge range of Vintage Macallans on offer have been selected from The Macallan distilled in the 1930s and bottled in the 1970s, and also from a selection of the very best casks at the peak of their maturation complexity from the Vintage years 1926 to 1972. Three vintages from this latter period are now available in Australia – the 1964, 1967 & the 1971.
In the case of the 1967 Macallan, thirty five years old, only 432 bottles were ever produced and the Australian allocation amounts to no more than a handful. Needless to say, these are collectors Macallan’s and as such, it is likely that the destiny of most bottles will be to accumulate both dust and value in equal measure, never to be uncorked.

The natural rich mahogany wood colour of this whisky, massively fruity in character, indicates maturation in Spanish oak first fill sherry cask. The nose is full of fruit and flowers, with parma violets to the fore. The taste is of orange zest with some spice and wood while the finish is long, fruity and floral with a late burst of wood. A single butt, cask 1195, filled on the 6th of February 1967, was selected as the best current expression of this year. Bottled at natural cask strength without chill filtration, this whisky derives all of its colour naturallly from thirty five years in the cask.

Tasting notes: Rich mahogany in colour. The nose displays massive fruits -an almost parma violet/floral character to the fore. The palate offers orange zest with some spice and wood. Long, fruity and floral finish with a late burst of wood.
55.9% Alc./Vol (Natural Cask Strength)
