Unlike barrel 90, the label says this is sourced from 'Tasmania Distillery', rather than Sullivans Cove (Sullivan's Cove didn't want Corowa to use their brand on the label again). The former is a prefix that's being in use since the distillery began in 1994, so they're one and the same. This is the second indie bottling to arrive, this time from barrel 91. Distilled in 2000 and aged for 16 years, it's released by the Corowa Distilling Co. Reports have it they have one more cask of Sullivan's Cove up their sleeves, then that's it. For those who have already purchased Barrel 90, securing all three will be a trifecta that's hard to resist.

Tasting note: Cleaner and more 'contemporary' than cask 90, this has gorgeous fruit purity and softness to the bouquet. Wine soaked pears, apple flan and balsa wood over light vanilla, dropping off slightly after aeration. On the palate, cocoa and sweet malt are augmented by warming spices. Excellent balance with stewed orchard fruits and hints of raisin cake in the aftertaste. Technically cask strength, but the ABV is even lower this time round at just 42.8% Alc./Vol. It represents another collector's opportunity to secure one of Australia's oldest whiskies to date. Approx 90 bottles produced.

Please note: slight cracks in the bottle's wax seal are not uncommon. This is not a packaging fault.
