Springbank Madeira Wood Cask Strength 11 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Campbeltown, SCOTLAND
$145. 00
Bottle
$1740.00 Dozen
ABV: 55.1%

This whisky has spent all of its 11 years in Madeira wood, rather than simply been finished in Madeira wood as Glenfiddich's recent "Ages of Discovery' release was. It promises a full throttle addition to the genre.
Since the 17th century, the Portuguese island of Madeira has produced some of the world's most famous fortified wines, commercially known all over the world as 'Madeira'. Its versatility and degrees of sweetness combined with its easy storing and incredible longevity have made it a collectible for many wine lovers. Its robust nature is partly due to the unique process of heating the wine in cask to temperatures as high as 60 degrees, creating the remarkably rich, intensely complex wine. Distilled June 1997. 9090 bottles produced.

Other reviews... Madeira as perhaps you've never seen it before: don't go thinking Penderyn or Glenmorangie with this one. As big as the whisky is the smoke out guns it. 88 points 55.8% bottling reviewed. - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2012size>
