Springbank Green 13 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Because Springbank doesn’t have the necessary certificates to release the whisky labelled as organic, it’s called ‘Green’ instead. Previous releases were comparable to the standard issue 10, only more peaty. Now older and this time using Sherry casks, some commentators feel the 2016 edition takes this towards the 18 year old profile. Notes from Springbank describe it as, "...fruity with raisins and orange zest to the fore. Marzipan, vanilla and soft sherry notes are also present."

Tasting note: Brilliant deep gold. Opening pass finds dryish aromas of brine, distant kelp and mineral, richening up as muesli, spiced raisins, delicate lanolin and granita biscuit enter the mix. Medium to full bodied with sooty peat interweaving flavours oatmeal biscuit, dilute honey and gentle peppers. Finishes keenly balanced with suggestions candied peel, brine and faint peat in the aftertaste. Moderate length. Non-chill filtered and colouring free. 46% Alc./Vol.
