Coming Soon - Whisky Craft Auchentoshan 20 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
A touch of something tropical here. The citric, grassy character of Auchentoshan's youth has transformed into softer notes of papaya and unripe banana, bringing an unsweetened rum-like edge. Nicely balanced at natural strength, and given the price/age ratio, well worth considering for followers of this distillery. 225 bottles from a second-fill hogshead. 55.1% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
Other reviews... It's fresh and lemony, with saline and mineral notes that give it character—chalk, gypsum, limestone. But very quickly, juicy fruits emerge: Williams pear, mirabelle plum, and cotton candy, strawberry bubble gum, with a lovely caramel coulis and pastry cream. On the palate, grapefruit and mountain honey, orange zest, and ripe banana. The spices are very subtle. The finish is shortbread, a pinch of salt, then it becomes herbaceous: mint, sage, reeds. A very light peppery touch, oak leaf, walnut. I enjoyed the fruits, the citrus, the cotton candy, but above all, what surprised me was the mineral character which gives a real personality to the whole. - whiskybase.com
Notes from the bottlers... Nose: Fresh and zesty, opening with lemon zest, limoncello, honey, and a touch of mint. Grassy notes add brightness and depth. Palate: Light and refined, with orange oil and soft citrus notes unfolding smoothly. Finish: Clean and lively, with a peppery kick and a zesty lift that lingers at the back of the tongue.
