Waterford Wilkinstown Edition 1.1 Single Malt Irish Whisky (700ml)

Located on the banks of the River Suir on Ireland’s sunny south-eastern coast, Waterford is a 'reclaimed' state-of-the-art facility originally built by Diageo in 2004. With x-Bruichladdich creative, Mark Reynier at the helm, the first spirit dropped from the stills in January 2016. 'Wilkinstown' is yet another addition to the Single Farm Origins Series, emphasising provenance and terroir. In this expression all the barley comes from Ger Kelly’s 'Wilkinstown farm' - a flat terrain, characterised by an estuary and influenced by a maritime microclimate. If you've been following this series, it's unusual to find this edition in Australia. It was originally released in 2021 as a Netherlands exclusive. 50% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. Notes from the producers... Nose: brown sugar, coffee beans, liquorice, honey, malt, sage, old leather, dried flowers, green vegetables, red apple, coconut, lavender and a hint of dryness. Palate: cloves, tarte tatin of pear, fennel, ginger cookies, barley sugar, grapefruit, stewed apples, brambles and homemade custard. Finish: long with some spices and a warm sweetness.
