The Macallan Fine Oak 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

The Macallan Fine Oak range whiskies represent a range of expressions which have been matured in carefully selected European and American oak casks which have previously held Sherry or Bourbon. As always with The Macallan, the colour is completely natural and is derived solely from the interaction of spirit and wood. Of the new selection, John Hansell of 'Malt Advocate Magazine' commented: 'The Fine Oak range is...more approachable, and has the potential to be embraced by a greater percentage of whisky drinkers....cutting back on the sherry reveals more of the Macallan spirit, which is first-class.'

Other reviews...'Nose: Drier. Robust and oily: earthy, seasoned oak, hazelnut, dry spices. Cherry stone, dried apricot, ripe pineapple, melon, peels, then into coconut and cocoa. Palate: Mouthcoating. Peaches cut with toasted nuts, ginger powder, cherry stone, burnt grass. Finish: Dry, a little fresh malt. Comment: Good weight. Ripe. 8.5/10  - David Broom, www.whiskymag.com
