The Glenturret Triple Wood Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml) - Old Packaging

Highlands, SCOTLAND

ABV: 43%

A precursor to the whisky that was awarded 'World's Best Single Malt' in early 2023. There have been at least five iterations of this expression including a circa 2019 bottling at 40% and this, slightly earlier effort at 43% as opposed to 46% for the newly presented 2021 and 2022 releases. Each employs similar cask types (American sherry oak, x-Bourbon and European sherry oak). Prices online vary dramatically, with some retailers asking close to AU$400 a bottle for this edition (no doubt riding on the back of the 2023 accolade). Will this be as good as the award winner? Unfortunately, our stocks are too limited to find out. You be the judge!

Other reviews... Not the happiest of whiskies, but recovers from its obvious wounds by concentrating on the juicy grain, rather than the grape. 85 points - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2017

Notes from the producers... Nose: Dried fruits and vanilla, damp sawn oak. Thin caramel sauce and a soft maltiness. Taste: Medium body. Spices, vanilla and caramel. Finish: Medium-long finish. Minty caramel now, as well as camphor, malt drops and distinct notes of cut grass.
