Springbank Amontillado Matured 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Springbank's Sherry Wood Series will culminate in five different expressions. They’re said to be launching them in order of “weight” - thus, the Pedro Ximenez was first, followed by a Palo Cortado (strangely, Oloroso isn't included). The 10 year old Amontillado has just landed; following that, we’ve got the Fino and Manzanilla releases to look forward to. More than a finishing, this whisky spent half a decade in sherry casks before bottling in September 2024 at 55% Alc./Vol. 9900 bottles were produced. Non-chill filtered.

Other reviews... I always say that Amontillado is adding less to whisky than other style of sherry – this is a good example. It’s helps to amplify the innate Springbank character, with a couple of minor interesting additions like tobacco and subtle farmy notes, but it doesn’t have the usual dried fruits.
