Pierre Ferrand Selection des Anges 1er Cru du Cognac (700ml)

Like the other Ferrand cognacs, this needs some time in the glass to reveal its beauty. First nosings underwhelm. We would recommend a good twenty minutes in the glass to ‘wake it up’. Bright, brassy gold colour. A touch of shellac at first, with time, the Selection des Anges slowly reveals a wonderful amalgam of fresh stone fruits, in particular ripe peach and nectarine along with maple syrup and cigar box notes. The palate is plush, powerful yet controlled with a slow burst of stewed stone fruits, clove and cinnamon building with exceptional length. Very clean spirit with a gentle warmth. Aftertaste of dried fig, vanilla and spice that fades then returns with surprising intensity. 40% Alc./Vol
