Re-tasted on 7/11/2013:
Pours with a very frothy white mousse showing excellent hold. Pale straw base wine colour with exceptionally fine and very persistent bead. Yeast lees and citrus top notes are followed by some baked apple and pear. On the palate pear and yeast lees flavours are followed by some baked bread and citrus. Slightly creamy with a clean crisp dry finish. Aftertaste of yeast lees, baked bread and citrus.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
Alc 12%

Tasting Note:
Fresh golden yellow colour with jade tints, an elegant stream of bubbles rising to form a rich, lively foam. The nose develops aromas of lemon and grapefruit, with notes of white peach, apricot and acidulous apple. Lingering notes of vanilla, dried fruit and honey. Complex fresh fruit and caramel flavours are the mark of a great wine. A touch of acidity and remarkable length in the mouth make a consistently delightful finish.
Alc/Vol: 12.5%

Notes sourced from Mumm

In the late nineteenth century, this champagne was decorated with the famous red ribbon, as a tribute to the Légion d'Honneur. 77 wines make up this reference champagne. Well-structured, tonic, elegant and long, Cordon Rouge sums up the spirit, know-how and dynamism of the Mumm champagne house.

Pinot Noir (45%), rounded and full, structures this blend with strength and power. Fruitiness, liveliness and a rustic feel are provided by Pinot Meunier (25%). Chardonnay (30%) gives this champagne all its finesse and elegance.
