Mhoba Bushfire South African Rum (700ml)

A pure cane juice pot-distilled rum with a nod to South African culture, where Braai (large barbecues) are a custom. To grill and smoke the meats, hardwoods such as acacia found in the bush are often used. In an effort to replicate this particular flavour, Mhoba decided to mature its rum in small casks containing toasted acacia wood. The result is aptly named 'Bushfire' and comes bottled at higher strength for added oomph. 55% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Other reviews... Being significantly darker than other "cousins" - looks somewhat fiery - it still shares some of their general characteristics of "core Mhobas". The taste is mainly woody, (very) meaty, (strongly) smokey and overall has promised "campfire mojo". All in all, quite flavourful, specific rum, which is always a positive. The finish is very ashy and dry. I have no idea what other non-Mhoba rum to compare with. This is for sure one of the less sweet, less mainstream (sic!) Mhobas. - rumratings.com
