Longrow CV Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
The first distillation of Longrow was carried out as an experiment when Springbank's chairman set out to prove that it was possible to produce a heavily peated, Islay-style single malt whisky on the mainland. Longrow was distilled again a few years later and has since become an important part of Springbank's portfolio, with regular distillation having taken place since 1992.
A new Longrow expression has recently arrived in Australia. Production director Frank McHardy and distillery manager Stuart Robertson were briefed to create a Longrow with “...maximum smoke and peat, yet with balance and complexity and maturity.” The result is Longrow 'CV', which contains 6, 10 and 14-year-old whiskies, matured in a variety of casks ranging in size from 50 to 550 litres.
Tasting note: Pure golden color. Lightly smoky, iodine laced, peat, peppery spice, praline, and geranium aromas. A rich, supple entry lead to dry-yet-fruity full body of exotic peppery spice, caramelized nuts, rich peat, aged iodine, and eucalyptus honey flavors. Finishes with a seemingly endless, caramel, cereal, lavender, peat, and brown spice fade. A delicious peaty malt with a sensational finish. 46% Alc./Vol.
