Lochlea Sowing Edition Third Crop Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Lochlea have scored some high ratings for a relatively young distillery, including 94 points from Whisky Advocate for their cask strength inaugural release. This limited edition is the final instalment in their seasonal whisky series. Aimed at showcasing the spirit style in a variety of casks, reflecting the farming calendar, like the First and Second Crops, Sowing Edition Third Crop has been 100% matured in first-fill Bourbon barrels. They remain the distillery's preference, as the apple notes of their new make complement the vanilla flavours typically imparted by these barrels. You might also find hints of almonds and rose petals on the nose, with apple blossom underpinned with white pepper and crisp pear on the palate. The finish is gentle, with notes of warm straw and freshly-cut grass. Like the previous editions, it comes bottled at 46% without chill filtration.

We are fascinated to see what the third and final round of the range will reveal and what they are planning for the future. Sowing Edition (Third Crop) is a bright, vibrant and lively whisky that is delicious and refreshing.
