Aged for over five years in a French oak cask that previously held Barossa Shiraz. Light rye bread aromas are checked by discreet dried berry notes. At first taste, the extended wine influence seems to cancel the grain, then the mouthfeel thickens, heralding a slow crescendo of oily rye, the wine softening the expected spices, juicing up the finish. Fine tannins and trace peppermint bring grip and vibrancy. Understated rye with grace and nuance. Beautifully executed. 50% Alc./Vol.
