Tasting note: [15ml sample] Produced at the 150 year old Komasa Jyozo distillery, 'Hojicha' is made by roasting green tea leaves. The process enhances their aroma while reducing the caffeine bitterness making for a less astringent tea.The other key botanical here is Japanese cypress (related to juniper). Scented with green tea cake aromas and flavours, the resulting gin offers low-key spices and mere hints of woody juniper through the brisk finish. Subtle, light and refreshing.
