Kilchoman Exclusive Selection Small Batch Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml) - Batch 2

Now up to Batch #4 in the USA, we've snuck in a very small parcel of this 'back-vintage' from one of our favourite Islay protagonists. Each unique expression combines some of the distillery's rarest casks, married to create exclusives for different countries around the world. Batch #2, which employs a mix of Sauternes, Bourbon and Sherry casks is a release of 1800 bottles intended as a US exclusive. The series aims to show off an experimental side of Kilchoman. Very few tasting notes available, suggesting this series is either being snaffled away by collectors, or keenly consumed - or both! 47.2% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Other reviews.... Buckets of fresh-picked berries, pastry cream, green banana, saline, and iodine peat on the nose. It stays consistent on the palate, with sweet berries, toasted baking spice, chocolate, salty and mineral peat, and a creamy texture. The flavor builds and then, on the finish, crescendos on a wave of dark chocolate, bittersweet oak, and smoldering peat smoke. The fruit doesn’t make it to the end, but there’s no lack of a sense of completion. 91 points, reviewed by: Susannah Skiver Barton 2020
