Kilchoman 15 Year Old 20th Anniversary Cask Series Ex-Sherry Casks Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
The most spectacular in the collection, though not the oldest, the 15 year old also packs a punch at 52.7% Alc./Vol. Partly because of its deep, sherry influenced colour this has been one of the most popular bottlings in the series. Rich and rounded, the profile exudes sherry-soaked fruits with a peppery kick and a gentle smokiness that brings a savoury, briny character. Five oloroso casks filled 3153 bottles. Non chill filtered.
Other reviews... Mouth: a good kick, with a lot of peppery smoke, tobacco leaves, a bit of salt and a hint of roasted pineapple and blood orange. This mingles with a lot of black cherries, cassis jam and figs. Hints of chocolate mints, moving towards cocoa and leafy notes in the end. Finish: long, with iodine, sooty notes and hints of dark chocolate, as well as drying tobacco leaves. Quite multi-faceted again – a nice composition of sweeter and drier sherry casks. I may need to try more Kilchoman, although you can’t deny these bottles aren’t exactly cheap. Also hard to find. - whiskynotes.be
