Hourai Hida No Tanbo Junmai Sake (720ml)

The house style here tends towards bold, full bodied sake. They're clean and powerful, and also have a higher than average emphasis on umami.

Tasting note: Slightly hazy pale lemon colour. Unique nose showing both some sweetness of banana and custard, along with spicier herbal notes of dill and fennel. On the palate it starts quite fruit driven again with the banana and custard, custard apple, but finishes light, fresh and clean. This is one of the more textural sakes with a pleasing umami mouthfeel, and the complex fruit and savoury notes ensure this is one of the more distinctive sake on offer. Serve chilled or warm.
