Holyrood Brewer's Series Crystal Malt New Make Spirit (500ml)

Because they only opened in 2019, Holyrood are marketing new make spirits before whisky. In this case it’s all about crystal malt, a brewing malt famed for its colour and nutty, caramel-like, residual sweetness. Distillery Manager, Marc Watson comments, “This speciality malt is lightly toasted and is often used in the brewing of Bitters, adding a subtle sweet character. When used to create our New Make, Crystal Malt adds a caramel, and a toffee sweetness to the spirit which means we aren't just relying on the wood to do the work during maturation”. 60% Alc./Vol.
