Hickson House Classic Dry Gin (700ml)
Classic juniper-led aromas of crushed pine buds, coriander seed, lemon zest and white pepper follow in a light, creamy gin with a medium-spiced, savoury finish showing attractive vibrancy and lift. Recommended for drier-styled Martinis. Botanicals include juniper, Coriander Seed, Angelica Root, Orris Root and Old Man Saltbush. 40% Alc./Vol.
Other reviews... Although creating a 'classic' gin is deceptively tricky, refraining from using too many botanicals and including saltbush works wonders for Hickson House. They've created a sophisticated, almost steely-in-character gin. The saltbush complements the gin well, enhancing the green spice notes found in juniper and the drier coriander seed notes, which create the atmosphere of an early morning stroll along the beach. Bottled at 40%, the gin does have a slight viscosity to the finish – an attribute that allows distinguishable flavours to come through when drinking neat. 90 points - Jess Clayfield, James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion
Notes from the producers... AROMA Prominent juniper with subtle herbaceous notes FLAVOUR Juniper-forward with coriander spice mid-palate. Finishes with gentle salinity FINISH Dry, aromatic and viscous with saltbush lasting on the finish.
