An auspicious new offering from Hellyers Road Distillery is this Oloroso Sherry matured indulgence, the first release in a series of Sherry casks. Although the aromas take time to build, it is arguably the best balanced of the newly presented line up. A dried fruit sweetness accompanies the medium-bodied malt, although the mouthfeel is intensified by some fairly piercing, racy spices; subtle fruit mince pie flavours make for a convincingly sherried finish. Notes from the producers... Scents of sweet tobacco and raisin present, as the palate detects dark chocolate and seared citrus with a spicy overlay. An elegant, smooth oily sweetness envelops around notes of vanilla and dried fruits with a hint of chilli and cloves bowing to a lingering, graceful finish.
