Limeburners Single Malt Whisky is named after a local area close to the Distillery - Limeburners Creek. The creek was where the Lime burning process was once performed by convicts.

Western Australia’s First Single Malt Whisky

The distillers chose Albany for its abundance of Barley, Peat and quality water, with the cool maratime environment allowing for slow and delicate maturation of the whiskys. Great Southern Distillery produces only single cask, single malt whiskys, each one unique. This release is a fitting follow up to Barrels M6 and M35, and marks Great Southern as a consistent producer of quality, single barrel malt expressions.

Tasting Notes: Barrel M17
Bright gold / pale gold hue. The nose is restrained at first, warming the glass reveals raisins and dates over attractive aromas of butter menthol and dried banana. A soft entry develops into a medium dry, fresh and spicy palate. Butter menthol and dried fruit flavours re-emerge carried on a soft, spicy power wave of gently warming spirit. Excellent length and balance. Aftertaste of butter menthol and spice with a hint a vanilla wafer biscuit lingering. A delightfully different Limeburners expression.
43% Alc./Vol.

Jim Murray Ratings for 2011

Barrel M23: 90.5 points "...You are supposed to start off with a bloody horrible whisky and better. Now you have gone and made a rod for your own back. Good on you! "

Barrel M31: 85.5 points "...semi-spiced up sultana fruitcake, complete with a delicate nuttiness..."

Barrel M27: 73.0 points " Malty, but feinty too. Probably not the happiest of fermentations either."
