Glenfarclas 26 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

There have been a few limited runs of these 26's for the Taiwanese market. Towards the end of 2022, Glenfarclas branched out offering the same unusual age statement. It didn't take long for fan groups to register the bottling as a resounding success. Three things strike you about this whisky: Firstly, it's exclusively matured in Oloroso sherry casks, secondly, the high ABV. Most of all, you have to love the price compared to the official 30 and 40 year olds which now open at $1000+ (see what equivalents from Balvenie, Glendronach, Macallan or Glenallachie are commanding). The consensus is that the style doesn't align with the distillery's official 25YO. It's actually "...much better" and given enough air-time, arguably gets you closer to the 40YO, the higher strength elevating it above the norm.
