Glen Scotia 11 Year Old Sherry Double Cask Finish Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Since Glen Scotia was purchased by the Loch Lomond Group in 2014 who invested heavily in the operation and branding, it's gone from strength to strength with a slew of new releases. This limited edition was initially matured in first fill bourbon barrels before a second maturation in both first fill Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks – hence the name. Bottled at an impressive 54.1% Alc./Vol. with zero chill filtration. Similar bottlings have received praise from the likes of Jim Murray.

Other reviews... If a successful finish means allowing both the original and secondary casks to make their presence felt in the final dram, then this Scotia effort has worked out pretty well for my palate, with extra layers of flavour on top of what I suspect was already a rather capable malt. That it has been presented at a sensible price and a strength of 54.1% is an added bonus that cannot be ignored. Really enjoying this one. Recommended. - whiskyreviews.net
