Feingeisterei Five Continents Dry Gin (700ml)

Like almost everywhere else in the world, German gin production has upped a gear in recent years. As the name suggests, this one uses 22 organically grown botanicals from five continents. The still is operated by Martina & Fabian Rohrwasser at Gut Basthorst, just outside of Hamburg. All of the ingredients are distilled simultaneously, as opposed to being mixed later on. This allows their flavours and aromas sufficient time to "get acquainted, mingle, and emerge." The gin's botanical list is diverse featuring ginger and cardamom from Asia, Australian eucalyptus, as well as African guinea pepper and a dose of local lavender leaves resulting in a heady mix of international aromas and flavours.

Tasting note: A pungent, spicy bouquet, settling after 2-3 minutes revealing appealing aromas of pine, juniper, lemon cordial and potpourri. Intense attack, with peppery juniper, lemon butter, eucalyptus leaf and a spicy, fresh, grapefruit-like finish. A complex, full bodied gin to stand up to heavy mixing. 47% Alc./Vol.
