Equiano Rum (700ml)

$99. 99
Bottle
$1199.88 Dozen
ABV: 43%
A blend of column distilled, molasses-based rums from Gray’s Distillery, Mauritius and Foursquare Rum Distillery, Barbados. The Gray’s component is aged in a combination of French Limousin Oak and ex-Cognac casks for ten years. It's then shipped to Barbados and blended with rum aged in ex-bourbon casks for a minimum of eight years. Richard Seale and Co. at Foursquare distillery oversee the bottling. The name references Olaudah Equiano, an African born writer, abolitionist and traveller who financed his activities (partly) via the trading of rum. He was enslaved in Africa, taken to Barbados, and eventually settled in the UK.

Billed as the first 'Afro-Carribbean ' rum, the brand are donating 5% of profits to the Equiano foundation in his honour.

Tasting note: Deep amber gold. Medium sweet aromas of rock candy, date cake and golden syrup. A supple, rounded, fruity rum, with graceful, semi-sweet flavours of pineapple pudding, cocoa, mango lassi and light molasses through the aftertaste. Excellent length and balance. A tropical fruit-driven style that's never too sweet. 43% Alc./Vol.
