Dictador 20 Year Old Rum (700ml)

Dictador's premium offering is distilled partly in copper pot alembics and partly in steel continuous column stills before being aged in a solera system. It's noteworthy that the oldest part of the blend is twenty years old - not the youngest, which is seven. Tasting the 12 and 20 year old releases side by side, the younger version showed more aromatic personality and better overall length. It will be a question of personal preference; both are nicely balanced examples worthy of a rum lover's attention. In this expression, the bouquet opens with soft, sensuous notes of sticky date pudding, brown sugar and creme caramel with a sense of freshness retained. Entry is light and brisk building into a superb, concentrated profile of roasted nuts, dilute molasses and sweet ginger biscuit and spice trailing off with moderate length.
