Cadenhead's Sloe Gin (700ml)

No question, Cadenhead's Old Raj Dry Gin is arguably the most intensely flavoured Gin available on the market today. Now the company has released a sister product in the form of this full strength Sloe Gin. With most other Sloes presently bottled under 30% ABV (and so more resembling liqueurs), Cadenhead's high proof (46% ABV) clearly puts the Gin back in Sloe. Produced using real Sloe berries, this Gin has also had a brief maturation period in oak casks.

Tasting note: Very pale straw colour with a faint pink blush. Smells like gin, exuding a classic, piney/woody juniper top note followed by ripe, fresh crushed berries and a hint of lavender. The palate is nicely poised. A concentrated, gently peppery juniper flavour wave is followed by a delicate, semi sweet berry burst. The finish is like slightly unripe raspberries with a cleansing acidity present. Perfect balance. Excellent length. Piquant in both definitions of the term, possessing a subtlety absent from most other examples which tend to be over sugared compared. Well done! 46% Alc./Vol.
