Bivrost Vanaheim Limited Edition Teak Cask Finished Arctic Single Malt Norwegian Whisky (500ml)

Norway can now be added to a growing list of Northern European whisky producers. The Bivrost distillery, aka 'Aurora Spirits', creates single malt whisky, gin, aquavit, vodka and more. The name is derived from a combination of two ancient Norse words: ‘Biv’, which means ‘shaking’, and ‘rost’, which means ‘road’ or ‘path’. Combined they make the Viking word for the Northern Lights. This is a properly Norweigan product, pot distilled from Nordic barley and diluted with Elvejordvannet glacier water from the Lyngen alpine range. To further distinguish it, the whisky has been matured underground in a former NATO storage facility using carefully selected ex-Bourbon casks and then finished in 240 litre Teak casks - an extremely rare finishing that's not actually permitted in Scotland. 46% Alc./Vol. 3506 bottles are available.

Notes from the bottlers... Colour: Pale gold. Nose: Cinnamon and vanilla, with tropical fruit notes and honey. Palate: Vanilla and tropical fruits, with a clear influence of cinnamon and other spices. Finish: Pleasant, spicy finish. Overall: A sweet and pleasant Whisky, very suitable as a first introduction to Whisky.
