Tasting note: Straw / gold appearance. A highly unusual whisky aroma opens juniper-like with the piney / sappy overtones only slightly diminished after exposure (what happened to this rum cask?) Subsequent inspection finds the malt better defined but the odd aromas remain. The palate is a contrast - more in the fruit and nut chocolate spectrum; shows good concentration but exits early with the spices leading into a sweet cocoa fade. A subtle wood finish. 46% Alc./Vol.
