Tasting note: A tribute to Admiral George Brydges Rodney, a British naval officer who distinguished himself in 1782 during the Battle of the Saintes. Officer’s Release No.1 was column distilled in 2006 then tropically aged in ex-bourbon casks for thirteen years before nine-months in ex-port casks. Deep copper in colour, the aroma opens with hints of balsamic and spent Bourbon barrels, followed by richer notes of rum infused fruit cake, dried coconut and port soaked pipe tobacco. Soft, with semi-sweet flavours of plum pudding giving way to wood spice and drying tannins. Spiced plum, vanilla and caramel recover the sugars through the aftertaste. 45% Alc./Vol. 4200 bottles.
