2025 Mermerus Pinot Noir
Established in 1996 by Paul and Jennifer Champion the Mermerus Pinot Noir is produced from a single vineyard in the Geelong sub region of Bellarine Peninsula. The fruit was hand picked from low yielding vines (1.8 tonnes per acre), open fermented, basket pressed and matured in seasoned French oak barriques for 10 months.
Seductive, silky and powerful this is a superb expression of Geelong Pinot Noir that delivers terrific value.
Dark red core with black toned edges and a red to dark red hue. Soaring out of the glass are perfumed scents of violet, dark cherry, strawberry and anise followed by some fresh herb, forest floor and spicy cedar notes. Uber delicious, the palate is decorated with dark cherry, strawberry and anise flavours that carry a gorgeous supple feel. Unravelling across the back half are notions of dried herbs, brambly cedar, forest floor and spice. Boasting outstanding intensity, depth and power, silky smooth tannins extend across what is a very long and highly seductive finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
