2024 Praeter Strange Fog Nebbiolo
Juicy morello cherry and liquorice fruits with slightly chewy tannins and vibrant acidity.
Dark red core with black shaded edges and a red tinged hue. Nosing offers up aromas of rose petals, dried cherry, morello cherry and red liquorice in conjunction with some dried herb, earthy leather and spice notes. Juicy morello cherry and liquorice fruits carry medium body weight with notions of dried herbs, earth and spice lying in the background. Fleshy mid palate feel with slightly chewy tannins and vibrant acidity. Some gentle tobacco characters lingering across the savoury finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%

From the Malakoff vineyard, sees skins for 22 days before maturation in old French oak puncheon. An opportunity to hear Matt Large wax lyrical about nebbiolo, region and clone, is a masterpiece in and of itself. '24 saw a return to warmer growing conditions, resulting in a classic and pure expression of nebbiolo. Rose petal, orange rind, red cherry and raspberry with earthy savoury notes, leather, terracotta and bay. The tannins are spectacular, chewy and long, providing a nice framework in conjunction with bright acidity and fruit. It's a beauty. Drink by 2038.

Katrina Butler - James Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion
Excellent fruit, excellent structure, beautiful wine to drink. Flavours of sweet cherries and pomegranate, twiggy herbs, strawberries, orange peel and assorted spices. Ultra fine-grained tannin. Fresh-feeling. Both mouth-watering and finessed through the finish. Feels crafted in the best of ways. Drink 2026-2031.
