2024 Mulline Sutherlands Creek Chardonnay

Long and fleshy with a slate like feel to the finish.

Brilliant pale straw colour with a subtle greenish tinge to the edges and a watery hue. Wet slate infused aromas of white peach and pear are trailed by some lime, oyster shell and gun flint notes. Delicious pear, white peach and dried honey flavours expand across the palate with a cream tinged textural feel. Subtle notions of lime, roasted hazelnut, wet slate and infusions of gun flint are also evident. Concludes long and fleshy with a slate like feel to the flinty saline laced aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

From a 10,000-vines-per-ha close-planted vineyard in the Moorabool Valley. Matured in 30% new French and Austrian puncheons. 20% mlf. A complex amalgam of white nectarine, crushed rocks, gentle vanillin and pressed flowers. Textured, saline and beautifully balanced. Now firmly one of the region's very best chardonnays and a wine that will provide lots of pleasure now and over the next five to seven years. Drink by 2030.

The Mulline crew have made some exquisite wines in recent years and this 2024 Sutherlands Creek Chardonnay continues that run.
There’s texture and flavour here but it’s the drive through the finish that really elevates the pulse. This chardonnay really does power on. It’s a complex wine with flint, popcorn, roasted nut and grilled peach flavours running into sweet spice, smoky bacon and meal. It announces itself straight up, and then keeps on going through the finish. Top stuff. Excellent wine. Drink 2027-2032+
