2024 Messwein Stift Goettweig Gruner Veltliner

A delicious, slippery textured Gruner that shows impressive flavour intensity.

High in the hills across the Danube River between Krems and Dürnstein sits the Stift Göttweig monastery which offers breath-taking view of the Wachau valley and its surrounding landscapes. Home to wine making activity since 1094 the monastery also owns some fabulous vineyards which are managed by the renown Fritz Miesbauer who was the driving force behind the revitalisation of Domäne Wachau.
Brilliant pale straw colour with green toned edges and a watery hue. Elevated scents of pear, red apple skin and delicate honeysuckle drift through the nostrils followed by some wet stone and mineral notes. Delicious pear and red apple fruits are delivered with impressive intensity and carry a gorgeous textural feel. Some lime, wet stone and traces of spice lie underneath. Brisk acidity lending freshness across the long slippery finish.
