2024 Margan Saxonvale Mourvedre
Rich, seductive and spicy.
Matured in a combination of second and third use French oak barrels for 9 months. Deep dark red core with black shaded edges and a dark red hue. Attractive dark plum and liquorice scents are complimented by some blueberry, dried herb, scorched earth and spice notes. Rich, concentrated and plush yet not heavy, the mid weighted palate is layered with juicy dark cherry, liquorice and dark plum fruits. Notions of blueberry, earthy dried herbs and spice also make an appearance. Velvety tannins with a long seductively spiced finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 13.6%

2027 Other Reds & Blends of the Year. Scored awarded by the Halliday tasting panel at the annual Awards judging. TP writes: Vines off block SZM2, planted on own roots in 2010, with cuttings from the VERE vineyard. Sustainably certified. Fermented in open fermenters and matured in seasoned French oak. The result is a stunning example of mourvèdre, sweet-fruited and supple, with fabulous depth. Fragrant morello cherry, blueberries, subtle herbs and loam. The energy, shape and flow set this wine apart from others. A true Hunter highlight!
