2024 Heggies Vineyard Estate Riesling
Tense and racy with a steely spine of mineral infused acidity.
Brilliant very pale straw colour with greenish tinged edges and a watery hue. Pear, lime and red apple aromas are followed by some chalky talc and mineral notes. Tense and racy, the palate is sculptured by a steely spine of mineral infused acidity with flavours of lime, citrus, orange rind and chalky talc wrapped around its core. The dry, crisp finish showing ample length.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 11.5%
Other Reviews….
I am the first to admit that at times I live beyond my means. There are consumables that stretch this, and in rare moments, items of relief. Discovering wines like Heggies’ Riesling for under $30 is one of them. The wine opens with a most pretty nose of white blossoms, clementine, sliced Granny Smith apples, and fresh water over pebbled brooks. There is something almost purifying about it, a purge of the week’s stress and for some… reckless spending. Between the zip and zing of lime zest and green apple flesh, the wine is lightweight and downy. A gentle grip on the palate pulls it down a line of slaty minerality towards a talcy close. In Heggies, we trust.
