Founded in 1983, Gembrook Hill is one of the Upper Yarra Valley's benchmark estates, planted on a cool, elevated site with volcanic soils that naturally lend themselves to producing fine-boned, ageworthy wines. Over four decades on, the estate has become a reference point for the region, with wines built on clarity, restraint, and a deep sense of place.

A long-standing benchmark in the Yarra, this Sauvignon Blanc shows the estate’s signature restraint and balance, offering a style that sits well apart from more fruit-driven interpretations of the variety.

Other Reviews....
From vines planted on an east-facing slope in Gembrook in '83. Barrel fermented in large format seasoned French oak. Perfumed and pithy. Aromas of pink grapefruit, gooseberry and white flowers together with a gentle herbaceousness. Flows seamlessly on the sapid, fine-boned palate. Another classic sauvignon blanc from Gembrook. Drink 2025-2030.

Delicate perfumes introduce a wine of presence. This release is as good as it always is. Lemon oil, lemongrass, nashi pear, woodsmoke, gravel and whispers of both passionfruit and snow peas. The nose on this wine is exquisite; the palate is perfectly composed. There’s just-enough texture and good carry through the finish. This release had me at hello but every step thereafter it sealed the deal. Drink 2026-2031+.
