2024 Bindi Original Vineyard Pinot Noir
Bindi is one of Australia’s most respected small estates, producing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir of purity and finesse. The vines grow in a mix of ancient Ordovician soils and volcanic slopes in the Macedon Ranges, farmed with sustainable, low-intervention methods and intensive handwork. In the winery, natural fermentations, long lees ageing, and gentle handling capture the seasonal expression of this remarkable landscape.
From the gently north-facing, quartz-influenced Original Vineyard (3 acres) planted in 1988, producing a fragrant, finely structured Pinot Noir with naturally high acidity and strong cellaring potential. The wine is matured for 15–17 months in French oak, around 25% new, with oak kept firmly in the background.

Purity and tension stand out here, with layers of cherries, pomegranates, hibiscus, rose hips, crushed stones, citrus peel and orange blossoms. The palate is mid-weighted, with finely framed tannins and balanced acidity that bring the textural mouthfeel together around a strong, mineral-touched core of red fruit. Elegant and pretty, underpinned by power, with a silken, smoothly integrated structure and a fine edge of spices and earth. Complete and potent today, with many years ahead. Excellent. Drink or hold.

The flavours are so familiar, always; the wine I have grown up with drinking for 35 years. Michael Dhillon recalls.
Dark cherry, a dash of mocha, some anise, pepper, paperbark, black olive, panforte in a harmonious mesh. Somewhat creamy, velvety too, bold flavour but a cooling underlay of spice and botanicals that makes for ease. A little liquid spice shimmies through it all too. Fine tendrils of light tannin and general minerality lingers. Delicious. Drink 2025-2040.
