2024 Bicknell FC Lance Close Planted Pinot Noir
Light, expansive and supple with a fresh red fruited finish that shows plenty of spice.
Semi translucent red colour with a light red hue. Perfumed aromatics of violet, red cherry, dried herb and strawberry stream through the nostrils with notions of forest floor, bramble and spicy cedar lending further complexity. Light in body but expansive and supple, the palate is layered with delicious red cherry, strawberry and red liquorice fruits. Lying underneath are notions of forest floor, dried herbs, subtle rhubarb and spicy cedar. Energetic feel with polished tannins and a long, fresh red fruited finish that shows plenty of spice.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 12.7%
Other Reviews….
From the Lance vineyard, planted to 8300 vines/ha in 1989; a vineyard that produced some of the Yarra's most coveted pinots in the 1980s. A light, very bright crimson red. Fragrant and even more pure fruited than the excellent Applecross pinot off the same vineyard. Aromas of alpine strawberries, redcurrants, bergamot and subtle floral notes precede the palate, which is simultaneously concentrated and light on its feet at the same time. Beautifully delineated and structured on the palate. This seriously good wine will open up and blossom over the next six to eight years at least. Drink by 2036.
