2023 Woodlands Woodlands Brook Vineyard Chardonnay

Fresh and vibrant with a fleshy mid palate feel and an elegant finish.

Brilliant very pale straw colour with a subtle green tint around the edges and a watery hue. Aromas of nectarine, pear and subtle grapefruit sail through the nostrils with some biscuity oak, gun flint and mineral notes also chiming in. Fresh and vibrant, the palate is glistening with nectarine, pear and grapefruit flavours which meld into a gun flint infused back drop of roasted almond, biscuity nougat and mineral elements. Fleshy mid palate feel with lively acidity leaning into the brisk, elegant finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

At first, the sweet, cedary oak struts its stuff, muffling the fruit within. It did settle with some air, allowing the citrus and white stone fruit to appear alongside the spice, especially fennel, and nutty, creamy, nougat-like lees. Although, it’s tightly wound, with acidity leading, and while the palate is layered with flavour, this will improve with some bottle age. Drink by 2030.
