2023 Wirra Wirra The 12th Man Chardonnay

Fresh, gently fleshed nectarine and grapefruit flavours underpinned by vibrant acidity.

Brilliant pale straw colour with a subtle greenish tinge around the edges and a watery hue. Lifted nectarine, pear and grapefruit aromas are trailed by hints of biscuity oak and gun flint. Fresh and gently fleshed in its feel, nectarine and grapefruit flavours lead into a back drop of delicate biscuity oak, traces of dried honey and infusions of gun flint. Vibrant acidity with a refined mid length conclusion.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.

Whole-bunch pressed to French for native-yeast barrel fermentation. A cool year brings a tightly coiled expression. Oak frames cool ripeness; white peach and nectarine, green apple and lemon oil, with stone fruit kernel, hazelnut and ginger notes complexing. There’s a light-bodied charm to this, a breezy linearity, but the detail is there, and though the fruit is tight now, it should gently swell with time in bottle. Drink by 2027.
