2023 Wirra Wirra Church Block Shiraz

Rich and succulent with a ripe juicy mouth feel.

Matured in a combination of American and French oak for a period of 12 months (8% new). Dense inky black heart with a very deep dark red black hue. Elevated ripe blackberry and liquorice aromas are complimented by some dark plum, vanillin cedar, earth and peppered fennel notes. Rich and succulent the palate is awash with blackberry, liquorice and dark plum fruits. Spicy vanillin oak and peppered earth elements the undercard. Excellent concentration with a ripe juicy mouth feel and nicely integrated fine grained tannins. Long fleshy finish.

Another perfectly presented Shiraz under this label. Shiraz has been an important part of the Church Block story, present in every release since the first in 1972. The cool year has tempered the wine slightly, yet it still reveals attractive red fruits, a faint hint of licorice, and typical spice. It’s perfectly integrated with sweet American oak and savoury French oak, with about 8% new oak adding a final lift. Drink 2025-2031.
