2023 Vinea Marson Barbera
Light to medium weight with bright juicy red fruit, vibrant acidity and slightly chalky tannins.
Pitch black heart with a deep dark purple hue. Inky aromas of freshly crushed blackberry and liquorice are interwoven with earthy graphite and spice like notes. Bright juicy red cherry and red liquorice fruits eloquently decorate the light to mid weighted palate with inky earth, fresh herb and spice elements the undercard. Vibrant acidity and slightly chalky tannins with a fresh, energetic finish.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 13.5%
Other Reviews…..
Fermented in two parts: the first a wild ferment of destemmed fruit, the second undergoing carbonic maceration. The maker's second release of barbera and the question has to be: why did it take so long? The site, the grape, offers a rollicking, fresh delivery of red fruits and gentle spice in the best tradition of the Italian red grape. Plum, mulberry, blackcurrant pastille, red licorice and a sprinkling of dried herbs combine with the brightest of acidity to deliver one good drinking wine for good times. Drink by 2028.
