The most remarkable thing about this impeccably balanced wine is that the grapes are sourced from a tiny plot of vines, planted in 1867, called the 'Old Patch' nestled within the Old Hillside vineyard. It is a pure expression of the site (thought to be the oldest-producing shiraz vines in New South Wales), with its bright, flowing, perfectly ripe red fruit. A subtle halo of fragrant, nutty oak sits over the gorgeously concentrated plummy tones. The majesty of the wine lies in its completeness. It is just one parcel of old-vine shiraz matured in a single French oak cask, with 3040 bottles produced. Drink by 2043.
