2023 Pierre Gonon Saint Joseph
Other Reviews....
The complex 2023 Saint-Joseph emerges initially with pronounced orange rind, fresh violets and pencil shavings. Black cherries add more nuance. Refined and smooth, the 2023 sports spot-on overall balance between elevated flavour concentration, fresh acidity and notably refined tannins lending gentle structure. A delicious red Saint-Joseph from the talented Gonon brothers that's going to benefit from at least two more years in a cool cellar. Drink 2028-2038.

Ripe black cherries, lavender, pepper, violets, and subtle game notes all emerge from the 2023 Saint Joseph. Medium to full-bodied, with fine tannins and remarkable elegance, it shows a silky, seamless texture and impressive length on the finish.

Violets and raspberries, this is a relatively light-bodied vintage. Fine, delicate but ripe, with lovely balance, making this very fresh and drinkable. Not a hugely concentrated year, but very attractive vintage 'à l'ancienne'. Drink 2025-2035.
