2023 O’ Leary Walker Watervale Nero d’Avola

A generous blue to dark fruited Nero with slightly chewy tannins and good freshness.

Fifty percent of the wine was aged in 1-3 year old oak barrels for a period of 9 months. Deep dark red black colour with a dark red hue. The nose is filled with morello and black cherry, liquorice, blueberry and scorch earth aromas. Flashes of incense and spicy dried herbs are also evident. The palate is awash with juicy morello cherry, ripe blueberry and liquorice fruits. Earthy incense and spice elements lend further nuance. Slightly chewy tannins with ample underlying freshness and a long generous blue to dark fruited conclusion.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
